The Choir of Beckenham Parish Church is an adult one of up to about 30 voices. It has recently been described by one Dean as, “The finest Parish Church Choir in the Country”. They sing two fully choral services each Sunday and on all major weekday festivals.
The Choir regularly makes recordings, and broadcasts for the BBC. They frequently sing services in Cathedrals throughout this country and occassionally tour abroad. This year includes Westminster Abbey, York Minster, Canterbury and Norwich Cathedrals.
The music repertoire is vast; ranging from Plainsong and Tudor Polyphony to Contemporary Works. A number of composers, notably Anthony Caesar, Roger Wibberley and Martin How have written works for the Choir.
The choir is immensely grateful for the support of the Friends of Cathedral Music who have recently awarded a grant of £25,000 to help fund the choir’s Choral Scholars and augment the FCM’s initial grant of £10,000 which they generously made two years ago.
