Friends of Cathedral Music grant

We are delighted that the Friends of Cathedral Music has just announced a grant of £25,000 to fund Choral Scholars in the Parish Church Choir, and this will be presented at the St George’s Sung Eucharist on Sunday morning September 25th. The presentation will be made by the FCM Chairman, Professor Peter Toyne, who is a Council Member of Liverpool Cathedral where the St George’s choir sang services for a week recently. Prof Toyne also chairs the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society, chaired Liverpool’s successful bid as 2008 European Capital of Culture, and was made a CBE for his work in regenerating Liverpool. This is the FCM’s Diamond Jubilee Year, and the organisation is awarding a record £600,000 to boost music-making in British cathedrals and churches.
